X-Wing Store Championship - Double Falcon vs Jax Whisper Howlrunner

Northern Gaming Network brings us another match from their store championship. This match sees a double falcon list go up against an TrIEfecta of TIEs.

the commentary on this video features one of the players and you can listen in and see exactly why I always say that at least one of the commentators should have played in the match. The insight that Ian provides into the play by play game information takes a lot of the pressure of the other commentators and results in a much more natural and informative conversation.

X-Wing Store Championships Game 2 - Leebo double B vs Double Falcon

A pretty generic video of a store championship match from the Northern Gaming Network channel. The video quality suffers from a lack of 1080p, poor focus and light saturation. dice rolls are not clear and the commentators don't give much insight into the dice results so you pretty much have to guess whats happening based on how many dice the players point to.

The commentary is a constant conversation with few pauses but the tone could be more lively to prevent the viewer falling asleep, especially towards the end game as you start to fall asleep just watching two ship go round in circles.

X-Wing Store Championship Round 1 Vader Swarm vs Triple Large

The Wookiees on X-Wing from Northern Gaming bring us the first in a series of videos of a local store championship.

Video quality suffers from a heavily damaged play surface and glaring overhead lights.

However the commentary helps capture viewer interest.

Star Wars X-Wing: Wave Five Demo Game (Oicunn vs Dash)

Northern Gaming finally gets around to a demonstration game of the wave five ships.

In this batrep the cammera is hung directly above the play field which usually results in it being a considerable distance from the play surface and as such make dice rolls difficult to make out especially when 1080p is not available. however the field is well lit meaning all tokens are clearly visible. The last comment regarding the video quality is that everything seems to in soft focus making small details even harder to make out.

The commentary on the other hand is well done and the hosts do a good job of keeping the conversation going as much as possible and also informing on the more important game events.

Wookies on X-Wing Unboxing Wave 5 - The Outrider

Northern Gaming features an unboxing video of the YT-2400.

The audio quality is poor on this video as noted in the video description due to a microphone malfunction. That said the conversation between the two "Wookiee" hosts is easy enough to understand so the audio problems are only a minor annoyance.

The only problem with the video is that it is a little dark, also some closeups of the model would be a good idea for an unboxing video.

X-Wing Miniatures - Game Night Round 3 Vader/Whisper/Jax vs. Fel/DoomShu...

A cool Batrep from a game store game night where two imperial lists go head to head. Image quality is very good on this video with an interesting low angle view of the play surface and high definition video making it very easy to follow along with the game. back ground audio is at a level where it is unobtrusive to the commentators whilst still giving enough information from the players, at one point a crit is clearly read out by one of the players ( a rare occurence in x-wing vids where you are normally left guessing which crit is dealt). Dice rolls are also easily discernable. The commentators are interesting if a bit slow at times, a better pace would help hold the viewers attention better.

The only complaint I'd have regarding the camera angle is that the models on the far edge of the table are not visible, their bases are, but if there were several small base ships battling along that edge it would be hard to tell which is which.

Overall a good quality video from a channel that is worth a subscription to see what more they can come up with.

Score: 8/10
